Home Puppies Memorial Our Boys Our Girls About Us

These are the sons, daughters and grandchildren of Marmaduke. They honored his memory and spirit by touching all who knew them. The "Black Shadow's" litter had special spirit. Although born to a Canadian BIS winner, five of the six were condemned to death before being rescued. Despite being severely malnourished and abused, they eventually grew to be beautiful show and companion animals, shining examples of the Newf motto "Courage without Ferocity".

Am/Can Ch Black Shadow's Wind Song Am/Can CD

1981 - 1994

"Bubba" as she preferred to be called was tiny for a Newf, standing only 24" at the shoulder. Despite her small size she had a giant spirit in the ring, finishing both her Championships with ease. She preferred  sleeping with her head on a velvet pillow to picking up a dumbbell!

Black Shadow's Morning Mist Am/Can CD

1981 - 1988

Misty was my grey Newf. Although she never completed her Championship, she was great fun to show. The picture above is of her placing in the other than black class at a national specialty. Her color was not preferred in the breed, but few could pass her by. Before her retirement, Misty had obtained 8 points including one major. This was no small feat during a time when members of the parent club were trying to remove this color from the breed standard. I would like to think that she, in some small way, helped to educate and preserve this lovely color.

Black Shadows Morning Dew Am/Can CDX

1981 - 1993

Dewie was another Marmaduke daughter. She completed her CDX's in the style of her father and was well on her way to her UD when circumstances in my life halted training. Pointed in the US and Canada, she has the destinction of winning a 3 point major AND first place in obedience Open A class on the same day.

Can Ch Black Shadows Thor Am/Can CD

1981 - 1985

Thor was a lovely dog owner and loved by Charlie Blanker. He was well on his way to his Am. Ch (having just won a 5 point major) when he was tragically lost to an allergic reaction. Another shining star from this wonderful litter.

Black Shadow's Buccaneer

1981 - 1991

Bucky was only shown in a very limited number of shows, but was pointed in the US and Canada.

Am/Can Ch. Cabinwood's Black Magic Am/Can CDX

Magic carried the Marmaduke tradition on into the next generation. He is shown here placing in heavy competition at the Newfoundland National specialty. He was also a fast moving, eager obedience dog.
